Daily Bible Reading Reflections

“I AM” the Answer

Today’s Bible reading is Exodus 3 and Revelation 2.

“Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” This is God’s call to Moses in Exodus 3 and it leaves Moses full of questions. “Why me?” “Who should I say has sent me?”

God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.'”

Maybe Moses wasn’t the only one with questions. Maybe YOU are full of questions today.

When my life falls apart, who is going to stand with me?
“I AM.”

Who is going to make sure that one day truth triumphs over evil?
“I AM.”

I can’t do life on my own; I need someone to help me.
“I AM.”

Who is wise enough to figure this out?
“I AM.”

What if the chemo isn’t enough?
“I AM.”

What if the surgery isn’t a success?
“I AM.”

What happens after death?
“I AM.”

Who is going to stay with me in this empty house now that my spouse is gone?
“I AM.”

Who is going to help me out of this pit of depression?
“I AM.”

I’ve made so many mistakes; can anything new and pure and right really be in my future?
“I AM.”

Our world is crumbling at the seams; what’s going to endure?
“I AM.”

Nobody’s listening.
“I AM.”

Nobody’s there for me.
“I AM.”

No one’s on my side.
“I AM.”

My family deserves better than I’ve given them.
“I AM.”

Who is going to make sense of my past and give my life meaning?
“I AM.”

“I always have been and I always will be; this is My name forever: I AM.”
