A Better Motto

Mottos of the world: Hustle and achieve. One up and win. Outdo and shine. Brag and impress. Flaunt and attract. Stay busy and be fulfilled. Binge and enjoy. Scroll (and scroll, and scroll, and scroll) to fill every second of your time and occupy every ounce of your attention.

Psalm 46:10: “Be still, and know that I am God.”

What are we missing if we endlessly hustle, one up, outdo, brag, flaunt, stay busy, binge, and scroll? In what deeper, more intimate ways could we come to know our Creator if we slowed down, turned off, and tuned out? If we took him at his word…

  • Be still, and read Scripture.
  • Be still, and meditate.
  • Be still, and recite a hymn.
  • Be still, and pray.
  • Be still, and envision his throne.
  • “Be still, and know that I am God.”

What difference could Psalm 46:10 make in your life this week if you did what God has encouraged people to do for the last 3,000 years? “Be still, and know that I am God.” That’s a better motto.
