Welcome. We’re glad you’re here. We’ve gathered today to worship a truly wondrous God. To get our hearts focused, take a moment to think about these two verses from the book of Psalms:
He sent redemption to his people;
he has commanded his covenant forever.
Holy and awesome is his name! (Psalm 111:9)
O LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth! (Psalm 8:1)
We’ve gathered today in the name of a God who is holy. He’s not like us. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are his ways and thoughts higher than our ways and thoughts.
We’ve gathered today in the name of a God who is awesome. As we sing his praises, address him in prayer, and remember what he has done for us, our hearts should be filled with reverence and awe. “Who like me Thy praise should sing, O Almighty King?”
We’ve gathered today in the name of a God who is majestic. He is the Supreme Ruler of the universe, the Sovereign Lord of all.
As we learn more about him today by studying the names and descriptions of himself that he has revealed to us, may we offer acceptable worship to him with reverence and awe, “for our God is a consuming fire” (Heb 12:29). Holy and awesome is his name!
