BulletinDaily Bible Reading Reflections

All We Have is His Alone

The earth is the LORD’s and all that fills it,
the world and those who dwell therein.

That’s how Psalm 24 begins. This planet? It belongs to God. Everything that fills this world—from the depths of the Mariana Trench, 36,070 feet below sea level, to the heights of Mount Everest, 29,029 feet above sea level—it’s all God’s.

Are you up for a perspective-shaping mental exercise? Use Psalm 24:1 to really see today…

That bird you heard chirping this morning? It’s God’s.

That tree blossoming with the colors of Spring? God’s.

That flower emerging from the ground? God’s.

That air you’re breathing right now. God’s.

Those lungs you’re using to breathe that air? God’s.

That person—every person, in fact—with whom you interact today? God’s. Each one, uniquely created in his image.

What difference could it make in your day and throughout your week if you used Psalm 24:1 as a corrective lens to see as your Father in heaven sees?

The earth is the LORD’s and all that fills it,
the world and those who dwell therein.

Such seeing drives our hearts to worship. It’s our privilege to worship him today. Let’s give him everything we have to give. After all, as the old hymn reminds…

We give Thee but Thine own,
what’er the gift may be;
all that we have is Thine alone;
a trust, O LORD, from Thee. (William Walsham How, 1858)
