Today’s Bible reading is 2 Chronicles 20 and Mark 6.
When the what and the when and the how and the why is unclear, don’t lose sight of the who.
2 Chronicles 20 describes the Moabites, Ammonites, and Meunites coming against King Jehoshaphat and Judah for battle. “Then Jehoshaphat was afraid and set his face to seek the LORD” (20:3). In a great assembly of his people, the king stands and readily confesses in prayer to God: “We are powerless against this great horde that is coming against us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you” (20:12).
What a powerful example! When the what and the when and the how and the why is unclear, don’t lose sight of the who.
“I have no idea what life is going to look like after school and I don’t know what to do, but my eyes are on you.”
“Everyone thinks I’m stronger than I feel and I don’t know what to do, but my eyes are on you.”
“Life hasn’t turned out the way I thought it was going to and I don’t know what to do, but my eyes are on you.”
“I just got that call from the doctor that no one wants and I don’t know what to do, but my eyes are on you.”
“For the first time in decades I’m living in this house alone and I don’t know what to do, but my eyes are on you.”
When the what and the when and the how and the why is unclear, focus on the who. His steadfast love endures forever (2 Chron 20:21).
