How to Speak With Confidence Today

Today’s Bible reading is Nehemiah 9 and Hebrews 13.

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can confidently say,

“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear;
what can man do to me?” (Heb 13:5-6)

He has said … so we can confidently say. Do you see that? What a powerful reason to build the habit of reading God’s word! When I open my Bible to Genesis, the Psalms, or the Gospels, I’m reading what “he has said.” But my reading is to be so much more than a purely intellectual exercise. Reading by faith what HE has said unlocks and opens the door to ME saying and living and enduring. “Confidently.” The source of the Christian’s confidence is the Lord and what he has said. It’s what Jesus described as building your life on the rock.

“I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Psa 118:6). So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper.”

“Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?” (Luke 24:26). So we can confidently proclaim, “The Lord has risen indeed.”

“Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins” (Acts 2:38). So we can confidently exhort, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.”

“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him” (James 1:12). So we can confidently sing, “May this journey bring a blessing, may I rise on wings of faith. At the end of my heart’s testing, with your likeness let me wake.”

“Surely I am coming soon” (Rev 22:20). So we can confidently pray, “Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!”

Do you want more confidence? Not the empty, self-made mask so many will walk around with today, but real, well-placed confidence in the right person for the right reasons? Open God’s written revelation to mankind. Open your heart to what he has said. When he promises, you can be confident. “God is my helper. I’m not going to fear. If he is for me, who can be against me?”
