O LORD, My Lord

O LORD, our Lord… (Psa 8:1)
The LORD. “I AM WHO I AM” (Exo 3:14). He is Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God (Deut 10:17). He is the Lord of all the earth (Josh 3:11). The LORD of hosts (1 Sam 1:3). The Lord of heaven (Dan 5:23). The Lord of the harvest (Matt 9:38). The Lord of glory (1 Cor 2:8). The Lord of peace (2 Thes 3:16).
We might find it very easy on a Sunday morning surrounded by a large crowd to sing of him as “our Lord,” but here’s a question worth critically thinking about in the middle of the week: “Is he my Lord?” Maybe as a means of bringing the question as close to home as it needs to be, “Am I living as if he is my Lord?” What does that look like? Consider a few phrases from the rest of Psalm 8 worth carrying with you throughout the day.
If the LORD is my Lord…
I will say, “How majestic is your name in all the earth!”
I will recognize, “You have set your glory above the heavens.”
I will look at his heavens, the work of his fingers, the moon and the stars, which he has set in place, and I will ask, “Who am I that you are mindful of me?”
I will say and sing and live within the light of and unashamedly share, “O LORD, my Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!”
Let’s live as if he is our Lord today.
