Daily Bible Reading Reflections

Poor and Needy Meets Wondrous and Gracious

Today’s Bible reading is Psalm 86.

There is none like you among the gods, O Lord,
nor are there any works like yours. (Psa 86:8)

Take the time today to reflect on how David describes God throughout Psalm 86.

He is great and does wondrous things.

He is good and forgiving.

He abounds in steadfast love to all who call upon him.

He is merciful and gracious.

He is slow to anger and abounding in faithfulness.

He is a helper and comforter.

Incline your ear, O LORD, and answer me,
for I am poor and needy. (Psa 86:1)

Poor and needy, but invited to call upon the God who is willing to incline his ear and listen those he loves. The more we recognize how needy we are and how awesome he is, the more likely we will be to cast all our anxieties on him. He cares for us. That’s a solid truth worth thinking about and rejoicing in throughout the day.
