Psalm 96 is a call to act. It lifts our eyes and focuses our attention on the God who has blessed us with another day. The Lord’s day.
Sing to the LORD.
Bless his name.
Tell of his salvation.
Declare his glory.
Ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
Bring an offering.
Worship in the splendor of holiness.
Tremble before him, all the earth.
Say among the nations, “The LORD reigns!”
For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised. (96:4)
As this morning’s sun rises, the call of Psalm 96 continues to echo across the world, putting things in their proper perspective. We are not the main characters. It’s not all about us. Life is so much bigger than the mere trivialities that so easily distract us. And yet, we have been invited to participate. Together. In the very reason for our being.
Sing. Bless. Tell. Declare. Ascribe. Offer. Worship. Tremble. Say.
The LORD made the heavens.
Splendor and majesty are before him. (96:5-6)
Psalm 96 is a call to act. May we answer that call with all of our hearts today.
