Today’s Bible reading is Genesis 14 and 2 Thessalonians 3.
In 2 Thessalonians 3, Paul encourages his brothers and sisters in Christ to pray and pray specifically:
Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored, as happened among you… (2 Thes 3:1)
Take a moment to think about the impact that the word of the Lord has had on your life, your outlook, and your hope for the future. Think about the place of honor it has come to have in your heart.
Now, notice Paul’s encouragement: pray that others would be receptive to the word of the Lord–the same word that has changed your life. Pray that others would honor God’s word in their hearts. Pray that others would experience the same transformation that has given you the joy, peace, and hope that surpasses all human understanding.
It’s one thing to appreciate what God has done for us. It’s another thing to pray that others would come to enjoy the same blessings.
As someone whose life has been changed for the better by God, who can you pray for by name today?
