I AM is Near

We give thanks to you, O God;
we give thanks, for your name is near.
We recount your wondrous deeds. (Psalm 75:1)

“I AM WHO I AM” was the name revealed to Moses in Exodus 3. Thousands of years later, we continue to give thanks, for I AM is near.

The LORD is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth. (Psa 145:18)

The LORD is near to the brokenhearted
and saves the crushed in spirit. (Psa 34:18)

Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him,
that glory may dwell in our land. (Psa 85:9)

When something is “near,” it’s close in distance, not far away. When someone is “near,” they can be involved. When help is “near,” it’s available. A Savior who is “near” can be depended upon.

“Nearer, my God, to Thee” can be our confident prayer today. Not because we are worthy or deserving or special, but because the name of our gracious God is near.

Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. (James 4:8)

What an incredible invitation, extended to each one of us today.
