Daily Bible Reading Reflections

The Most Fundamental Question You’ll Be Faced With Today

Today’s Bible reading is Genesis 3 and Colossians 1.

Take a moment to think about what’s being revealed in Genesis 3. In Genesis 2, the LORD God had “commanded the man,” saying,

“You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” (Gen 2:16-17)

In the very next chapter, the serpent says to the woman, “You will not surely die” (Gen 3:4).

Who was telling the truth? That’s the fundamental fork-in-the-road that Eve and Adam encountered in Eden.

“Who is telling me the truth?” That’s the supremely important question each one of us will be faced with throughout the day.

God says, “Yes.” Satan says, “No.”

The Creator says, “Don’t.” The Accuser says, “Do.”

The Savior says, “It will.” The serpent says, “It won’t.”

“Who is telling me the truth?” How you answer that question–time after time after time–determines everything.
